trompe l'oeil guerilla advertising

click on these especially the red cross van to see larger...

Had a chat with GTS today - both been looking at guerilla marketing recently and he found the red cross ad here (showing the bay area public what would happen in the event of a quake). The trompe l'oeil effect is great to play with for the triangle in the entrance.

Early suggestion #1 we need to screen the front of the show off because we need to control the light in the triangle space - we could use our new wall system to hold an image, perhaps the front of the triangle as if the door was closed (then add idea for an image on that) - or - the sight of the triangle after a messy show has trashed it (then you get inside and its amazing and very different) - you get kind of idea. Or #2 we create a new front or false section to the triangle that can be seen from a long way off - such as the most bizarre and glamorous people clamouring to get into our show - any way over to you we need your comments and suggestions for ideas here.

led's for more general lighting

few examples here - they can look a bit acid and overwhelming but I did read somewhere you can match pantones.

led 3d madness

Make magazine - my fave - shows you how to make anything.
So heres some bonkers 3d led bulb design - all computer controlled - fun, not for us though.
heres the link..

how it works with vids..

how to make/buy one.

Lighting/Back Wall

i love the idea of having some kind of projection/lighting thing on the long back wall, since we have so much haNging space with the pods/walls etc. take a look at this light artist james turell. We could do something like this, it would look great especially since the room will be quite dark due to the pods... what do you think? Anna

projected grass - can also be interactive

see here an interactive installation using the 'processing' software - just goes to show you can always project. checkout the video. as th people move the grass does too although their setup is a really complex version.

grass grass grass!

Someone said they wanted grass in the triangle as the backlit displays look like a sort of forest so heres some info on doing that..

The triangle space would need 260sq.m of to cover its area. Real turf is possible but its hard to work with - heels/mud/going brown etc.

Heres a link for real turf - it works out at £670 inc vat

Heres a fake turf company at around 10 psq.m - £2600! inc vat

Heres the exhibition specialists who do the best stuff for shows their cheapest is £5.50 plus vat a sq.m which is about £1800 in vat - ouch

i'm waiting for another contact for thin trade carpet. We could still add areas of fake grass or fake organic elements such as trees and flowers.

some images..

this company sells grass matts for indoor picnics as seen at the top of this post - fun but pricy.

Neon Sign

I went to a shop called Signs on the kingland road today (east) and asked them how much a 1m long neon sign (unmounted) would cost with the brighter logo, and he's said around £350... this is definately do-able I think, and reasonable since Ana was quoted + £500.
He just needs the image of the logo, and I need confirmation and agreement from show commitee, DB and GTS
What do you all think?
