connect walls delivery & demo today

As mentioned earlier - connect walls delivered their wall system today which will be moved up to the casket today here are some images to show how to construct shapes..
(all surfaces can be painted).

ps. they told me about black-tac which is better than blu-tac and mostly used by the film industry which would be good for pin-up use.

digital festoon (click for link)

Saw this company at the last PLASA show, they have made a cheap lighting system for digital control. They sell you a 'brain' controller box I seem to remember for about £250 this can control an array of up to 200 lamps in any configuration ie. landscape/portrait or spread apart by any distance. Each lamp and holder is very cheap - just add a pc and you can write any image or scroll text etc. Whats so good about this is its cheap and open ended rather than having to fit a certain type of use or enclosure you can drill holes for theses lamp holders in any surface.

grouping the pods

Its tricky to fit 15 pods with everything else - we need to look at how much we can get away with in the triangle.

its back!

Infact its been in storage for a year, but we can modify it and renew it, colour it, split it up etc or just make it so the folders dont pop off the front. Ideas needed to make this fun objectwork in our new show?

We have about 25 bits of this walling system arriving on Tuesday with built-in lighting units. Its available for the show if we need any partitions or walls. They are lightweight and wooden painted white but can be painted any colour.

Rasterbator (click for link)

Upload any lower re image and the rasterbator software gives you back a multi-page pdf file with your image blown up and turned into halftone dots ready to print out on any A4 printer - mono or colour. Been looking at this with Geoff in terms of printing a wall somewhere in the show with the white edges and page numbereing left in (colour?)

more lightboxes...

We have ordered a number of these backlit exhibition pods for the brighter show this year, they include full-length printing on both sides for each unit - we just have to figure out how to place them and how to apply graphics to them.

here's a similar model's 3d revolve (click for qtvr)

display cases

this is a nice way of displaying work

ohhh and since the display case is already quite donald judd maybe we should look at dan flavin for ideas for lighting...

led fabric (click for link)

This looks like a good way to combine the led screens and fabric (possibly wall hangings, curtains, pillows? super-futuristic-yet-domestic?)
Might be good for some sort of installation or something..

Budda Bags (click here for site)

So... I know this isn't really the top priority just yet - but I saw these the other day in this (incredibly well designed) new shop in the Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. They are Budda Bags - filled with memory foam, not beans; and, well, how about it guys?

recent histories (click here for last year's blog)

Here's a quick catchup for you if you want to see the kind of shows that Chelsea College of Art & Design's Graphic Design Communication BA puts on. Images here from the last two summer showcases and serve as a reminder and a start point for our 2007 show. This year there will be all the great work and polish the course is known for but there's always room for imrovement and the show steering group is digging deep to come up with plenty of new ideas. Alongside the show is our publication 'Brighter Journal' which will be in its second edition this year..full of the best of Chelsea graphics, ideas, features and people.
